* Concept & definition of Museum :

        A Museum is a non-profitable permanent institution in the Service of Society & its development open to the public which enquiries conserve, Research communicates & exhibit, the tangible & intangible heritage of humanity & its Environment for the purpose of education study & enjoyment.

* Functions of Museum :

        1) Museum is a public service organisation & it deals mainly with objects its exhibition & visitor, it has some responsibility towards the object & Society & thus perform various activities on a regular basis.

1) Collection: Most important function of a museum is to collect objects of heritage since it is a custodian of the heritage of society or country. each museum authority adopts & publishes a written statement of its collection policy. Collection in a museum thus depends upon the mission, vision & objectives of the museum & also on the needs of research,  education, conservation, and preservation of evidence of nature & cultural heritage. a museum must not collect anything i.e.theft, smuggled or very much fragile          

2) Storage: Whatever a museum collects needs to store scientifically in well planned & secured area. it is an important function of all museums because only one-third of the collection is usually displayed, the rest two-third remains within the store, So the museum must have a good storage of its collection for the reserve collection separated for organic-inorganic objects, paintings, textiles, sculpture etc. it should be regularly supervised to keep clean control from humidity light effect past & other  biochemical & natural hazards or disaster

4) Documentation: it is the process of preparing a record of collected objects by a formal entry in the entry register, discussion, collaging & indexing with photo images, it s considered one of the main administrative functions of any museum it is very important to document object with authentic information after necessary search & consultation.
